Fireworks Safety Tips for Independence Day
The Fourth of July just isn’t the same without setting off some fireworks of your own! But, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, there are an average 230 fireworks-related injuries near and on the 4th of July. As your local insurance resource, it is our responsibility to remind everyone how important it is to stay safe while you celebrate our nation’s birthday! Here are just a few things to keep in mind this week:
Fireworks are not the time to get creative. Follow all the manufacturer’s instructions and don’t try anything adventurous.
If you’ve got a firework that refuses to light, don’t try to keep lighting it over and over again. Just give up, wait twenty minutes, then wet it down before throwing it away. Fireworks that won’t light can be very dangerous.
Make sure you know what kind of fireworks are allowed to be used and when you can use them. Your city or town might have certain rules that they expect you to follow. And please, don’t use any illegal fireworks.
Fireworks can be very scary for pets. Set up a quiet, calm room inside your house (preferably somewhere where noise is muffled) to give them a place to hide. For their sake, don’t take them to a fireworks show.
We hope you have a wonderful 4th of July and stay safe celebrating! Remember to give our agents at Creswell Agency a call with all of your insurance needs.
